Lynn is responsible for the administration of the practice and complaints procedure. If you have any suggestions or comments you are welcome to discuss them with her. You do not need an appointment.

Nurse Practitioner - Jackie Walker

Jackie is an experienced practice nurse who has completed a BSc (Hons) nurse practitioner degree course and is an independent nurse prescriber.  She is able to see patients with new and existing illnesses with some exceptions; babies less than one year old, pregnant women and patients with acute mental illness.  Jackie has a special interest and expertise in women’s bladder problems and respiratory medicine.


Practice Nurses

The practice nurses provide general nursing services including chronic disease management in diabetes, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and heart disease. They also see patients for travel immunisations, childhood immunisations etc. They also provide specialist clinics.


Health Care Assistants

Work five sessions a week, providing basic nursing procedures i.e. blood pressure monitoring, dressings, ECGs and audiograms.


District Nurses

The District Nurse team is available to give nursing care, advice and support at home to those patients who have difficulty visiting the surgery. Ring the surgery and leave a message with reception who will contact the team.


Health Visitors

The health visitors  are available for consultations and advice either personally or by telephone on 01727 865719 Monday - Friday  9am - 5pm.  An answer phone service is available when they are out of the office. 
All children under five are allocated a health visitor once born or shortly after moving into the area.  The Health Visitor is responsible for contacting you after the birth of your child and for arranging child health assessments and giving advice during the pre-school years on family health. 

You may wish to meet them before having your baby or after moving to St. Albans and to do so please contact them on the telephone number as above.

Other services they provide:

·Postnatal groups for first time parents.
·Access to St Albans Sleep Clinic and local parenting courses.
·The Under Fives Clinic on Thursdays - 1.30pm - 3.30pm, no appointment needed just turn up for Health Visiting advice, weighing baby, immunisations and developmental checks.
·The Independent Living Group - a group for the over 70s wanting to keep fit and active in later life.


Counsellor - Rosemary Gillham

Rosemary Gillham is an experienced counsellor who is available for short-term counselling for a variety of personal and emotional problems.


Family Therapist - John Hale

John Hale is a very experienced family therapist with special skills in dealing with problems that affect the whole family.

Dietitian

The dietitian is available to help with a variety of problems such as diabetes and heart disease.


Community Midwives

Our community midwives hold antenatal clinics in the surgery on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons and appointments can be made through the receptionists.


Macmillan Nurses

The Macmillan nurse is a specialised nurse who supports patients and their families through terminal illnesses.

She is attached both to local hospitals and to general practices.

She is able to offer counselling and help liaise between the different hospital and community professionals that are often involved during a person's illness.

Community Psychiatric Nurses

Community psychiatric nurses can provide counselling and support for patients with mental health problems in the community. Their services are usually arranged via the doctor or by referral from the community mental health team.
