Pharmacists are highly-trained to offer advice and can supply over-the-counter medicines particularly for common problems such as colds, coughs, aches, pains and skin problems. Ask for a private consultation if you would like to be seen in their consulting room.
Telephone NHS 111 if you have an urgent medical problem that cannot wait until the Surgery re-opens. They offer medical advice and, if necessary, arrange GP support out of hours 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
St Albans City Hospital Minor Injuries Unit walk-in service is open every day, except Christmas Day, 9am – 8pm. Available to over 2 year olds (cannot x-ray under 4 year olds). Minor Injuries diagnose and treat broken bones, fractures, sprains, strains, minor burns, bites, cuts and foreign bodies in ears or nose. Hemel Hempstead Urgent Care Centre is open 8am – 10pm a day every day for injuries which are not life-threatening (and illnesses that must be treated by a GP). The UCC is based at Hemel Hempstead Hospital, Hillfield Road, Hemel Hempstead HP2 4AD.
Dial 999 or go to an A&E Department for emergencies such as suspected heart attack, stroke or other serious/life-threatening illness or injury.
